driving school having to use a Notary

Have any of my fellow Notary’s been contacted to Notarize for a driving school test. After getting a traffic ticket you can attend a driving school or now online or through a dvd. My interpretation would be that they do not need to perform the test in front of us, only sign. When they are signing they are signing under oath that they are the ones that took the test. I did notarize a signature for this the other day and the one today she said she had to take the test in front of me. I would like some input on this. Thank You, Maureen |

According to the “rules” the person is following, they need to take the test in front of a notary. That’s specified by the powers that be. I agree with you that it’s the notary’s responsbility to ID the signer and administer an oath whereby the signer attests that he or she is the individual who answered the questions in the test. I usually make the time to have the person take the test in front of me. The test only takes about 10 minutes and this fulfills the requirement he or she is under. |

As an FYI… Many times the person takes the test in my office. (I work full time at UCSD) I sit at my desk and take care of other matters while they take their test. Myra ~ www.KosakSigningService.com |
